At Desert
Survivors,
we believe
children
learn best
in natural
environments
with their
peers and
their families.
We honor
the diversity
of our community
and the
families
within it.
Desert Survivors
Children's
Services
are divided
into two
components:
Services
for children
(birth-3)
with or
at risk
for developmental
delays,
available
in English
and Spanish,
across Pima
County,
including
the Tohono
O'Odham
Nation.
* Early
intervention
- support,
assessment,
information
and advocacy
in the family's
home or
other natural
environment,
i.e. child
care center
or Grandma's
house
* Support
coordination
- assisting
families
to identify
their resources
and find
other resources
to meet
the unique
needs of
their child
and family
Fully integrated
community
care for
children
of all abilities
(18 mo -
6 yr) through
a licensed
child care/preschool
for up to
24 children.
* Staff-to-child
ratio of
1 to 3
* Ongoing
assessment
and progress
reports
for all
children
enrolled,
plus a monthly
newsletter
* Individualized
care to
children
with special
needs
* I· Quarterly
meetings
and an open
door policy
