Native Plants with edible parts - desert survivors

The following is a list of some of the plants that we sell which are edible, and have been consumed by indigenous peoples in our area.  Please be aware that edible does not always mean tastes great, and that flavor can be highly influenced by rainfall, soil type and sometimes adjacent plants. If interested in more information on this subject, we recommend “Southwest Foraging: 117 Wild and Flavorful Edibles from Barrel Cactus to Wild Oregano”, by local ethnobotanist, John Slattery, and “Sonoran Desert Food Plants”, by local ethnobotanist, Charles Kane.  Enjoy!
