Vocational Rehabilitation Program Director (P/T)
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in psychology or closely related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience), professional communication skills, proficient with Word Office suite, physically able to lift 50 lbs, at least two years’ experience delivering employment services, strong organizational skills and be at least 21 years old.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five years of experience working with people with I/DD, experience in management, bilingual in English and Spanish and/or ASL, a record of successfully completing audits and inspections, and experience with Wellsky billing or as a DDD or VR vendor.
Details:
This position is under the direct supervision of the Executive Director; it is hourly, part-time, hybrid, and flexible. It is expected that within the first year this position will grow to a full-time position managing a caseload of approximately 20 job seekers.

Primary Duties:
- Regularly report to ED and attend all management meetings.
- Manage all aspects of onboarding and exiting your client caseload.
- Draft visual aids, checklists, and task analyses for use by your VR clients
- Consistently demonstrate a positive attitude, particularly in the face of negative behavior.
- Do not engage in a power struggle, you will lose!
- Create relationships with VR staff, schools, and self-advocates to ensure an adequate number of referrals.
- Travel to off-site client meetings anywhere in Pima County as needed.
- Familiarize yourself with the support needs and service goals of all your VR clients.
- Coordinate with the Operations Director to ensure funding for your new clients.
- Complete all required paperwork for clients receiving services from Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) through Knowledge Services (ie. Client Service Plans, Assessments, Billing, etc)
- Attend all team meetings for your clients and fully advocate for their civil rights vigorously and supported by law.
- Work in partnership with the other program Directors to make sure your clients have adequate supervision and experience in alignment with their job goals when they work alongside crews.
Secondary Duties:
- Demonstrate an understanding of health, safety, and emergency procedures to ensure the wellbeing of all personnel.
- Assist the Executive Director with fundraising and grant writing as needed.
- Remain current on all required trainings and certifications.
- CPR/ First Aid, Article IX, Prevention & Support, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation and current fingerprint clearance card.
- Partner with the Executive Director on any and all VR program policy development.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Operations Director on any VR contract changes, including hiring and training specialized staff.
- We are mandatory reporters of abuse and neglect. You are expected to discuss any suspicions with the Executive Director and assist with the completion of any incident reports.
- Educate yourself on the civil rights of the population you serve, ask questions, and endeavor to always conduct yourself as an ally.
Most importantly, treat all personnel at Desert Survivors with respect, courtesy and understanding. Disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated from any employee and should be reported to the management team and Executive Director.
