So Much for the Monsoon

We have made it through another hot summer season and have a beautiful fall to look forward to. Thanks to everyone who braved the 109-degree day to shop the Monsoon Sale, we appreciate your fortitude. The Fall Sale is coming up in October (4th-11th) and should be much more comfortable. But before that we have two great opportunities you do not want to miss this month.

Our Fall Plant Swap is on Saturday the 13th ( 10a-12p) and we will have some of our partners joining us. Transforming Terrainwill be there to talk sustainable landscaping, Community Gardens of Tucson will be challenging our seed knowledge with an activity, and Bokashi Bloom will be selling their ingenious bokashi composting kits. It should be a lovely day of chatting with fellow plant people and hopefully finding a new treasure. Free, family friendly, and fun!

We will also be hosting our first guest expert workshop on Saturday the 27th (10am). For months we have been expanding our network and creating relationships with local experts in preparation for providing free and low-cost learning opportunities to the community. One of these amazing people is Jeffrey Van Maren who is the Director of Tucson Design Build for AAA Landscape, a family-owned local business. He has been a professional registered landscape architect in Arizona since 1987 and worked on local landmarks such as the Tucson Botanical Garden. Jeffrey has created landscaping for some of the most beautiful homes in the Canyon Ranch Estates subdivision and will share that knowledge with us for the price of a donation to Desert Survivors. Check in at the register to make your donation and then use your receipt as a ticket for the workshop. We truly appreciate his generosity and the support of AAA Landscape and hope to see you at the workshop.

Thank you,

The Desert Survivors
